On January 14, 2004, President George W. Bush announced his Vision for Space Exploration. This initiative would replace the Space Shuttle in 2010 with a new program eventually called Constellation. This new program would be funded by ending the Shuttle in 2010 and the International Space Station in 2017. In the interim, the U.S. would rely on Russia for ISS crew rotations.
